Measure twice. Make room once.

Nominal size is a starting point. Check outside dimensions for placement, inside dimensions for storage and door openings for getting things in.

Approximate examples, not specifications for a particular unit. Confirm manufacturer, modifications and actual door openings. 10ft construction varies.

01

Outside

The footprint excludes the room needed for doors, maintenance and unloading equipment. Add those working areas to your site plan.

02

Inside

Usable room is less than the exterior size. Shelves, an aisle and packing gaps reduce how much the published volume can hold.

03

Through the doors

Door openings are smaller than the internal space. Check tall or wide items against the unit’s measured opening before ordering.

Standard 20ft and 40ft examples informed by Hapag-Lloyd’s 20ft specifications and 40ft specifications. Manufacturer and unit variations apply.
