40 Foot Shipping Containers
40ft shipping containers
A longer run of storage for bulky equipment, farm supplies or business overflow. Plan the full twelve-metre footprint and the delivery working area before ordering.
More room needs a workable layout
A standard 40ft container has about 68 cubic metres inside. Its extra length helps with bulky storage, but gear placed at the rear can be difficult to reach if you pack straight across the doors. Plan shelves and an access aisle around how often items will move.
Compare one 40ft with two 20ft units if you need separate storage zones or expect to move part of the setup later. Ask for both delivered quotes: purchase cost, freight and the space available can change the decision.
Measure the route, not just the final position
The truck's approach, turns and unloading position matter as much as the rectangle on the ground. A long container may require a different vehicle and more working room. Send a sketch and photographs showing the whole approach.
Confirm who will assess the ground and support arrangement for the loaded container. Do not order materials for permanent supports from a generic diagram; actual loads, drainage, site conditions and door alignment need to be considered.
New single-trip
Ask about a new 40ft unit in your preferred colour. Single-trip containers may have handling marks; request current photos.
Used condition
Compare the floor, doors, seals and repairs on the individual 40ft unit. Availability and the condition grade are confirmed in your quote.
A note on as-is. As-is containers are not sold as wind and watertight. They may need repairs and are unsuitable for contents that must stay dry unless those repairs are assessed and completed.
Colour preferences are subject to availability. Ask for photos of the actual unit.
